Whether you need to re engage a liftmaster garage door opener or another brand follow these steps.
Manually close garage door opener.
Once the lever is disengaged you should be able to open.
Locate the emergency cord on the overhead track of your garage door opener.
Once you are done maneuvering your garage door and are ready to re engage the automatic door opener please return the garage door back to the down position.
This disengages the electric drive from the door and you can manually open and close it.
To reset it begin by pulling the cord in the opposite direction.
It should click in place.
If anything interrupts this beam of light the garage door will not close and the ceiling light on the opener mechanism will flash as mentioned in the previous step.
This becomes necessary when there is a power failure or for some reason you lose your remote.
To manually open most garage doors you simply pull a corded handle that is attached to the door.
All electronic or automatic garage doors have a bypass that will allow you to open it manually.
When you pull down on the rope the carriage releases from the base and you can operate the door manually.
Manually move the garage door and return to down position step 2 will allow you to freely move the garage door open and close.
The release cord is on the carriage connecting the door opener arm to the opener track.
The emergency cord will release a lever that connects the door itself to the garage door opener track.
When you manually open your garage door it will remain in manual mode until you reengage the door opener.
Pull the emergency release cord to free the garage door from the door opener if the springs and cable are in good condition.
Be sure the door is closed.
Your door needs to be closed before you can reset your garage door after a power outage.
Push the open button on your garage.
